Join us this WEDNESDAY MAY 18th (10am - 4pm) at th Join us this WEDNESDAY MAY 18th (10am - 4pm) at the new mural by the showers/ pumphouse at Linda Mar Beach. THIS IS A FREE ART EVENT FOR KIDS! All art supplies will be provided for your child(ren) and they will be guided by professional muralists and art teachers, Danielle Gustavson, and Jason Budowksi. Have your child create a lifelong memory and share in the joy of painting a mural that will be in our community space for many years to come! There is a limited amount of spots for each time slot, so make sure to sign up your child(ren) soon. Recommended ages for this event kids are 2 to 12. SIGN UP ON THE LINK IN OUR PROFILE. Our third mural of the Four Directions is complete Our third mural of the Four Directions is complete! The north wall mural was painted by our artist Jeffrey Wong. @surfmuralist In many Native American tribes’ traditional knowledge, the direction of the north contains the energy of the bear, night time, winter time and our elders. It also is the direction connected with the stage of life of grandparenthood, end-of-life and our ancestors. In Jeffrey’s mural he painted this quote in the ocean water… “Ancestors, make us your tool to bridge the past with the present. Ancestral spirit, guide us through this life journey, to the future you have planned for us. Everyday is Earth Day here at Pacifica Murals! We Everyday is Earth Day here at Pacifica Murals! We are focused on creating conversations on climate change and how we all can make a difference. We want to lift up the voices of inspiring youth climate activists and join in on their mission to create a sustainable environment that will last for generations to come. Our South Mural (by the talented, Jason Budowski @isthatart) pays homage to our Mother Earth and inspiring youth climate activists: Greta Thunberg, Zanagee Artis, Autumn Peltier and social justice activist: Malala Yousefzai. "My hope is that this mural starts discussions about how to keep our skies and waters blue and how to cherish and honor this planet and its inhabitants. For our children and the next generation we leave behind a legacy of literal gray skies of pollution. Within this current age group represented on the south wall are some young activists leading the way in ushering change, before it's too late. The world is changing and not for the better with rampant pollution, nonconformance to social responsibility, and complacency in feeling powerless to make massive changes. But here at Pacifica Murals, this is not the case. One stone dropped in a metal bucket makes a loud noise. Thousands of stones create a cacophony that is hard to ignore. Being an art teacher, I hear these young voices over and over saying how they are the change and I witness them being the change. The youth is our future and we have to empower them so they can be heard. We, adults, need to let these voices be heard and dictate the needs of the world that is desperate for change and atonement for decades of neglect and industrialism.
